Description
Army mobile missile launchers are vulnerable to bullet and fragment impacts as current missile canisters are made of lightweight metals or composites that offer little ballistic protection. American Technical Coatings, Inc. (DBA ATC Materials, Inc.) of Westlake, OH is a leader in insensitive munitions armor technologies and has previously commercialized and fielded systems for IM protection. ATC’s lightweight solutions have demonstrated excellent performance in several government tests and can be easily fitted and attached to any canister or missile launcher offering enhanced safety of personnel and preservation of scarce munitions to help the warfighter. The technology can also be used for other applications such as ballistic shields for the protection of personnel or hazardous cargo. With a history of IM development, close ties with potential customers, and demonstrated progress in Phase I of this program, ATC is positioned for successful completion of Phase II and subsequent deployment of technology created within.
