Description

In military training and operational environments all personnel have the potential to become casualties and/or potential first responders. While infantry squads receive first responder training, more robust and realistic training can lead to increased casualty survivability during combat. To help save lives, the Aptima team will design and develop the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) Toolkit. The TC3 Toolkit will consist of a rugged, lightweight, mobile prototype that provides in-depth TC3 training in live exercises for self, buddies, combat lifesavers (CSL), and medics. The proposed solution will utilize a combination of existing technologies, custom software, and custom medical simulation hardware to train first responders in order to have better casualty outcomes on the battlefield. The TC3 Toolkit prototype will consist of four technology components: (1) an Android-based training aid device, (2) a casualty vitals simulator, (3) medical simulation instruments, and (4) a trainer assistant device (optional). Additionally, the system will streamline post-exercise device uploads to an integrated After Action Review (AAR) to help capture the lessons learned from training successes and failures.
