Description

System maintenance is time consuming, expensive, and can cause extensive downtime if done improperly. To avoid improper system maintenance, extensive training is often required for existing systems, with additional training required for new capabilities before they can be deployed. This training often slows the deployment of new capabilities. To address issues with system maintenance, the ATC-NY team will build MARS, a Maintenance Application for Remote Systems. MARS will leverage existing features built into Windows, Linux and Android to manage maintenance activities like backups, updates, patches and monitoring. Existing components such as Windows task scheduling, Linux crontab, and Androids app deployment system, can be leveraged to assist in the maintenance process. Additionally, ATC-NYs previous experience with system automation, RMF and STIG-compliant systems, remote assistance, tactical networks, remote system management, and Android OS development gives us a strong foundation in all the necessary areas for development of MARS.
