ABSTRACT: Environmental laws and regulations have compelled federal, state, and local land management agencies to develop innovative strategies to comply and effectively support these directives.The scope of the endeavor include understanding the environment, climate, habitat, plants, and animals in order to provide proactive problem solving in the areas of sensitive species mitigation and management.In effort to effectively support the mission and compliance with various environmental regulations such as the Endangered Species Act, the Air Force requires development of a rugged and innovative micro-meteorological system that can be deployed to various surface and subsurface locations for status monitoring and reporting. Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to develop a micro-climate sensor array system that is scalable enabling the study of small subsurface locations such as burrows and expand to large surface locations like solar panel farms.This approach leverages a flexible architecture in which various sensors are selected corresponding to the application under study and combined to form the integrated Modular Micro-Climate Sensor Pod System.; BENEFIT: Operational Benefits:(1)Supports swarm-like sensor platform(2)Enhanced environmental management data(3)Reduced logistics/maintenance costs(4)Scalable to various environments/platformsCommercial Applications:(1)Land managing agencies(2)Renewable energy developments
