Description

Current medical response training for non-medical Soldiers is provided during introductory Combat Lifesaver (CLS) training courses.Due to the inhibitive cost of medical mannequins, in many cases, the practical training provided to CLS trainees is limited to low fidelity mannequins, leading trainees to be ill-prepared to provide care on a high-stress battlefield setting. To meet the need of providing realistic training during force-on-force training activities, Design Interactive has developed the prototype MedAR, a modular medical augmented reality (AR) training platform. Under the proposed phase II effort, MedAR will be expanded and enhanced to include the enhancement of existing scenarios, expansion of additional scenarios, an approach for adaptive training, the addition of an injury state module and after action review module, and integration of a physiology model.The full system design will be conceptualized, designed, and developed, followed by a training effectiveness evaluation (TEE).The resulting system will improve the realism of patient state representations during training exercises, and increase the fidelity and effectiveness of training compared to current virtual patient simulations and role player best practices.
