Description
A need exists for tools that assist Soldiers in identifying appropriate training scenarios based on a unit’s learning objectives and developing training roadmaps to guide the progression from scenario to scenario and learning objective to learning objective to accelerate readiness. This effort’s objective is to develop a web-based software tool that aids in the identification of suitable training scenarios to accelerate readiness and provides users an adaptive training roadmap based upon expertise, performance, and commander priorities. Phase I includes a review of current simulation-based training and the platforms and metadata associated, a user needs analysis, development of an adaptive training recommendation approach, and the conceptual design of the tool, including interfaces for the user dashboard, visualizations of the training roadmap and methods for the association of metadata to new/edited content. Additionally, a feasibility demonstration will illustrate proof-of-concept. Usability assessments will be conducted and results will inform development. Phase II includes the expansion of the user needs and task analysis and use cases, instantiation of the adaptability algorithm, full system development, usability studies, and a prototype demonstration. The result will be a Soldier-friendly tool that aids in the development of an efficient and effective training strategy, leading to accelerated unit readiness.
