Description

ABSTRACT: EMSI shall adapt our stationary ground vehicle ATR technology to fit the requirements of Joint STARS Recap and other Air Force systems.We shall assess the feasibility of training our classifier primarily with rapidly generated synthetically data in order to minimize or eliminate the dependence upon expensive, time-consuming target collections.Primary goals shall include: 1) ATR performance agnostic to precise sensor characteristics such as operation in X versus Ku band, 2) computation requirements comparable to or better than template-based ATR, and 3) a compact ATR database.Although EMSIs current ATR technology uses databases approximately, one-thousandth the size of template-based ATR databases, we shall perform performance trades to optimize ATR performance against database size.We shall also quantify ATR performance with respect to foreign target variations and shall assess technology for rapidly adapting the ATR system for target variants.; BENEFIT: EMSIs ATR technology is readily adaptable to the Open System Architecture (OSA) that shall be employed on Joint STARS Recap.During Phase II we shall adapt the ATR technology for bistatic operation and for operation in the presence of electronic countermeasures.These adaptations shall make the ATR system usable under Anti-Access / Area Denial (A2AD) conditions.EMSI can adapt the Phase II ATR technology to the Joint STARS Recap OSA through a Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) award with minimal assistance from the system prime.
