FlashX, LLC is developing the open source “Gigantum” software platform to ensure the accessibility, repeatability, and extensibility of scientific data and analyses. Our innovative software integrates into the tools that scientists already use, like Jupyter and RStudio, providing a transparent user experience with virtually no learning curve. Within these tools, Gigantum works behind the scenes to create platform-independent software containers that bundle users’ code with the data on which it operates and the system environment in which it runs. In addition, Gigantum automatically versions digital experiments each time they are executed, providing users with a rich history of their work and documenting the provenance of each work product. As a consequence of this design, Gigantum guarantees that each figure, result, and output is fully reproducible by anyone, everywhere. During Phase I, we completed the architecture and design of the Gigantum software, developed its core functional modules, integrated our FlashX SSD accelerator libraries, created illustrative digital experiments for neuroscience applications, formulated a business plan, and began customer engagement. In Phase II, we propose to build upon this progress and develop a community portal to enable widespread sharing of LabBooks, and validate the Gigantum value proposition through user adoption and first sales.
