Description
Over the past decade, GTL has developed a suite of transformational technologies that provide superior performance for reduced cost. Each of these technologies have been matured to TRL 6 and establish the technical foundation for the Advanced Cryogenic Expendable (ACE) Multi-Role Vehicle (ACE-MRV). The ACE-MRV is a high-performance expendable rocket stage that can either be launched (from the ground or air) as a single-stage to orbit (SSTO) launch vehicle to deliver small payloads to orbit or launched as an upper stage on a booster to deliver medium size payloads to orbit. This dual role is achieved using the exact same ACE-MRV stage with no hardware changes by simply retasking the on-board software to adjust the vehicle operation. The proposed Phase I effort will continue the development of the ACE-MRV design, including component sizing and selection, and a Preliminary Design Review. In the Phase II effort, the design will be completed and a prototype ACE-MRV stage will be fabricated and hot fire ground tested as an integrated stage.
