Description
This proposal presents a gated LFMCW TDMA MIMO SAR based hidden chamber detector. The proposed system is constructed with (1) a gated linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) time division multiple access (TDMA) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR), (2) an inertial measurement unit (IMU), (3) a data processor, (4) a set of laser indicators, and (5) a monitor. The basic idea of the sensor system is to scan the wall of the target room, and form an image of the wall with high resolution depth information and proper angular resolution (cross range resolution). When there is no hidden chamber, the radar will receive a reflected signal from the room wall. When there is a hidden chamber behind the room wall, there will be at least two reflected signals, one from the room internal wall and the other from the chamber wall. Thus, the hidden chamber can be detected, localized, and displayed on the monitor.
