Description
To address the DLAs need for the implementation of augmented reality (AR) in DLAs procurement, logistics, and distribution processes, Intellisense Systems, Inc. (ISS) proposes to develop a new Logistics Augmented Reality Real-Time Efficiency Enhancement (LARREE) system. LARREE is based on novel ultra-low-cost infrastructure enhancements for real-time tracking, using interoperable software database tools with a variety of AR devices. Specifically, the innovation in selectively integrating passive low-cost fiducial techniques and highly computationally efficient processing, combined with compatible commercial head-worn AR and mobile devices for ambulatory and stationary AR, will enable integration with DLA logistics infrastructure and workflow. As a result, this technology offers low life-cycle costs and operational efficiency for enhancing last-meter navigation efficiency, picking (pick-by-vision), freight loading, and warehouse planning. In Phase I, ISS plans to complete a detailed state-of-the-art technology analysis and evaluation of AR applications that will result in productivity increases and correspond to cost savings that can be used in the rough order of magnitude (ROM) business case analysis (BCA). In Phase II, ISS plans to further develop and test the prototype system in a DLA environment, resulting in a highly integrated proof-of-concept solution that can be implemented within DLA through Phase III.
