Description
There is a critical need in the DLA subsistence supply chain for a convenient and compact device to purify and heat water for the warfighter. Mainstreams HHYCOR device provides a reliable and cost-effective method to increase the warfighters mobility, safety, and operational capability. The HHYCOR device is flameless (no visual signature), and safe (no Class 3 items). In addition, the HHYCOR device is lightweight (weighing only a few ounces), rugged (uses only flexible materials), and low-cost (a fraction of the cost of current freeze-dried MCW rations). The objectives for Phase II are to refine the HHYCOR design for manufacturability, establish the manufacturing processes, and validate the device performance. The refined HHYCOR design will be vetted through technology demonstrations with the service branches, laboratory testing, certification testing, and operational mission-specific testing. Throughout Phase II, Mainstream will transition the HHYCOR technology into the subsistence supply chain and finalize all design, materials, production, and safety documentation; develop configuration management metrics to be applied over the HHYCOR life cycle; and establish a supply-chain for HHYCOR device manufacturing.
