Description

Numerous operations in an increasingly congested electromagnetic spectrum, intensify demand for data at the tactical edge, and the diminishing extent of electromagnetic spectrum provisioned for the military has resulted in the need for advanced technologies to mitigate Global Positioning System (GPS) interference due to co-site interference and C4ISR. Metamagnetics proposes a powerful and adaptable new solution based on its versatile AtF (Auto Tune Filter) technology to provide real-time signal attenuation from multiple simultaneous threats including jamming, cosite interference and EM hazards. During Phase I, small, passive, prototype ATF devices were developed, fabricated and tested to demonstrate the ability to attenuate high power interference signals and make it possible to receive low power signals, particularly GPS signals. The experimental results clearly showed that without the ATF device in the signal chain, simulated GPS signals subjected to jamming could not be detected with a standard GPS receiver, and the same signals could be detected with the ATF device in the signal chain using the same jammer signals and GPS receiver. In Phase II, we will develop prototype AtF devices and validate functionality with multiple PNT platforms relevant to the Army.
