Description

NextGen Aeronautics (NextGen) is proposing to develop and submit Source Approval Requests (SARs) to increase competition for the manufacture and delivery of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE). The DLA has identified critical ALRA NSNs that are sourced by fewer than two manufacturers, limiting availability and competition. NextGen is a proven designer/manufacturer of high-complexity parts, systems, and prototype vehicles to the DoD and major defense contractors. NextGen has reviewed the DLA solicitation and identified six NSNs that are well suited to its manufacturing capabilities. NextGen will develop a manufacturing and inspection plan for each NSN. Where required, partnerships with suppliers will be created to complete manufacturing tasks NextGen is not currently suited. The completed manufacturing plan will be submitted as a SAR for each NSN to the DLA. It is not expected sample parts will be manufactured during phase I. NextGen will use the phase I effort to examine and determine the best path towards a quality management certification such as ISO 9001. This is a required certification to allow NextGen to compete for DLA manufacturing contracts. Through these steps NextGen hopes to become a Source Approved supplier to the DLA, increasing competition, DLA suppliers, and expanding NextGens manufacturing services.
