Description
The Special Operations Forces require the compact capability to rapidly and safely scan an enclosed space and assess the presence of drugs, explosive, or other chemicals in order to support quickly search a room for potential evidence and reduce hostile risks.Pendar is proposing to develop for the current program a handheld standoff chemical detector with a capability for 2-m standoff chemical analysis. The proposed system improves on Pendars product, in particular with: a longer standoff distance (2 meters), a faster analysis time (seconds) and a smaller size, weight and power (SWaP) budget for single-handed operation.The overall objective of this Phase II SBIR effort is to develop, test and deliver two (2) hand-held prototype systems to rapidly identify exposed chemical or explosive materials during Special Operations Forces Sensitive Site Exploitation operations within an average-sized room.
