Description

A small size, weight, and power visible/Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) camera system will be developed to be inserted in a 40mm grenade to enable visual guidance. This 320x256 on 8 m pitch InGaAs imaging system will be able to image light from 0.4 to 1.7 m enabling the precision engagement of targets during the day and night as well as in fog and through smoke using the advantages of SWIR imaging. The imager will have advanced video tracking algorithms to maintain a lock on the target even as the munition travel at high speeds to the target.Using the 500 fps imager the tracking system will provide information to the actuation system to guide the munition to the target. In addition, this imager will enable the user to image and track laser designators and pointers deployed on the battlefield. We will be manufactured a small =40 cm3, low power =2 W, and light weight =40 g camera, with the processing capabilities to handle frame rates =500 fps to meet the imaging requirements for tracking targets while moving at high speeds towards the target.
