Description
Ultrafast electron microscopy using relativistic electron beams requires very high quality imaging lens systems for maximum contrast at submicron scales- Permanent magnet quadrupole lens are an excellent candidate for said systems but no one has studied how manufacturing and assembly tolerances limit the performance of these lens in the context of ultrafast electron microscopy- RadiaBeam Technologies plans to use a multi-objective genetic algorithm to evolutionarily explore the Pareto front of a three lens imaging system for a multi-MeV electron beam- This approach has been used to study many complex physical systems in which optimization involves trade-offs which cannot be related to each other to form a concise merit function for evaluation-
