Description

The next generation of X-ray free-electron lasers will provide temporally coherent light using a variety of schemes, several of which rely on multi-pass oscillator configurations- Accurately modeling these systems over thousands of passes is computationally expensive- Faster methods for accurately modeling the free-electron laser amplifier and X-ray optics will allow more efficient design studies for the next generation of free-electron lasers- The goal of this work is to speed both the optics and amplifier simulations- The optics will be reduced to a single numerically computed Green’s function, allowing fast computation of the X-ray optics- Reducing the dimensionality of the FEL amplifier from three to quasi-one could lead to many orders of magnitude speed-up on modeling the FEL- These two tools will be tightly integrated and easy to use together-
