Description

The Data Distribution Service (DDS) is a popular, open, international software standard used extensively throughout the DoD in general, and the Surface Navy in particular. The US Navy needs more efficient methods to design, model, and emulate Data Distribution Service (DDS) based computer networks. DDS software tools to assist software engineers do exist. However, there is a gap in the areas of system design, prototyping, simulation scenario generation, and data emulation. To meet this need, Real-Time Innovations, Inc. (RTI) has developed the Message Emulation Process (MEP) and MEP Configuration Tool (MCT) architecture. The MCT consists of several key components which are the focus of this SBIR Phase 2. RTI System Designer is a computer software development tool that allows software engineer to graphically construct a DDS based computer network. RTI Scenario Editor is a computer software development tool that allows software engineer to configure and simulate a DDS based computer network. Building on previous work, this SBIR will significant advanced the maturity and productization of these new tools, enabling a much wider spectrum of users to create emulated network components for more rapid development, integration, test and evaluation of DDS-based systems.
