Description

The DoD currently deploys combat systems that contain both known and unknown software vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities make it possible for hackers to execute cyber attacks that result in system corruption or disruption and diminish confidence in Americas critical warfighting capabilities.While efforts have been made to enhance security through improved software development practices and the deployment of bolt-on signature-based intrusion detection capabilities, combat and weapon systems continue to be at risk of attack from well-resourced, sophisticated adversaries.Star Lab proposes to research and develop a cyber-protection system architecture that uses heuristic modeling and anomaly detection algorithms to detect imminent, undocumented cyber-attacks. Additionally, Star Lab has partnered with Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training to develop the models and algorithms used by its cyber-protection system architecture using system designs and representative data from the Aegis Combat System.Star Labs cyber-protection system architecture is designed to have wide applicability across a range of combat and weapon systems across the DoD.
