Description

Conventional Li-ion batteries (LIBs) have significant safety problems due to the flammable organic solvent electrolytes. An all-solid-state lithium battery (ASSB) utilizing a solvent-free solid electrolyte (SE) can potentially address the above issues. Storagenergy Technologies Inc. (STI) proposes a superior ASSB based on a highly conductive solid polymer electrolyte (SPE). The goal of this Phase I project is to integrate the novel SPE with novel battery manufacture technique to demonstrate the feasibility of ASSB. During the Phase II, the electrodes, solid membrane, and fabrication process will be optimized further. The target of Phase II project is to develop an advanced ASSB, with the following features: high energy density (>250 Wh/kg), high power density (>1500 W/kg) with high chemical and electrochemical stability, low self-discharge rate and good thermal stability.
