Description
Systems & Technology Research (STR) is developing a robust GPS-denied image-based navigation system by applying an innovative, information-rich feature descriptor, developed under the previous effort, to our image-based navigation framework. The feature descriptors contribute to the robustness and performance of the navigation solution by evaluating image measurement quality, pruning low quality image features, and quickly reducing the search space in the presence of large uncertainties. These methods directly address known weaknesses of existing image-based navigation solutions.
