Description

On-site activated decontaminants will revolutionize chemical and biological decon because the activated solution is produced on demand, without the limitations of traditional pre-made mixtures. TDAs system uses electrical activation to convert battery power into reactive chemicals that quickly destroy chemical and biological warfare agents. Prior to activation, the decontaminant mixture can be safely stored for years, is easily shipped and handled, and has a long shelf life. This product was developed for U.S. military use, and we have previously demonstrated that the system can safely accomplish the chemical and biological decon objectives. The technology is the only decontaminant registered with the EPA for efficacy against the biological agent Anthrax, and in extensive government laboratory testing it has been shown to decontaminate blister and nerve agents. While developed for the military, this technology is needed and has been requested by first responders. To broaden its uses and commercialize this technology for non-military uses, additional data is needed on non-military toxins that first responders frequently come into contact with, including harmful illicit narcotics. This effort will advance this critical decontamination technology through tests demonstrating the required additional capabilities, leading to commercialization of this dual use product for both military and non-military applications.
