Description

In this work, Trident will develop a 3U VPX multi-channel arbitrary waveform generator and digitizer for high reliability Multifunction-RF applications. At its core, the proposed Advanced Data Converter Module (ADCM) will utilize the latest high reliability data converter technologies and design techniques to enable multi-channel, synchronized data conversion. It will provide the combination of higher fidelity (> 12 bits), wider bandwidth (> 1 GHz), multi-channel (scalable by N channels per card) digitization capability over a wide (> 6 GHz) direct sampling frequency range never before seen in this form factor for aerospace missions. The resulting Phase II hardware will address the emerging needs of the industry; significantly increasing RF performance and flexibility, while balancing size, power and cost, in a highly reliable transceiver.Prototype hardware will be delivered along with full testing and characterization data. The result of the research will push SDR technology to the point that numerous new transition paths are created for USG programs as well as other commercial applications.
