Description

Research Proposed: Research is proposed to develop an innovative transfer method and network architecture for autonomously uploading condition based maintenance (CBM) and energy command and control (C2) data to CBM data warehouses. This novel approach will also allow for operation over limited bandwidth links, including real-time visibility of data from remote locations. Problem Statement: Capturing CBM data in an efficient and timely manner is key to maintaining accurate predictions of vehicle health. Current solutions require manual connection or wireless links with insufficient data transfer rates for the CBM data. Additionally, they can pose cross-domain data transfer issues and lack of visibility of real-time data over wireless tactical data links. Plan/Process Outline: A flexible architecture will be designed for autonomously uploading CBM data over radios including bandwidth-limited and disrupted networks. With approaches in pre-processing, support for limited bandwidth networking, and passive RFID tags for autonomous upload triggering, this architecture will allow for automatic upload in garrison or when forward deployed, and will support real-time presentation of data via a remote dashboard application. Where applicable, cross-domain data diode capability will be used to support transfer of CBM data to other network domains, allowing for communication with secure tactical networks.
