Description
Inner ear disorders, such as loss hearing and tinnitus, are significant public health issues in the United States and worldwide, with a considerably higher prevalence among military personnel. Such inner ear disorders, particularly when associated with acute noise or blast exposure in military personnel, require timely intervention. However, local drug delivery to treat the inner ear disorders requires clinical expertise and specialized instrumentation. Military personnel have limited access to such specialized medical care while deployed in remote settings, where many of these noise-related injuries are sustained. Triton Systems proposes to develop an intratympanic drug delivery device for minimally invasive treatments of inner ear disorders. Our proposed system will enable intratympanic administration of time-critical therapies in a safe and effective manner, even in remote settings.
