Description

VAWD is proud to submit this proposal to explore a new sensor development potentially capable of precise determination of Potential Threat Elements (PTE) identified by Polarimetric STTW radar systems. Current STTW radar has demonstrated the ability to detect persons through obstructions at operational relevant ranges. Although the systems have proven the ability to capture differentiating characteristics (biometrics) from human targets, the current radar instantiation has limitations. Those limitations include restrictions in the inability to isolate threats that are potentially carrying weapons. VAWD proposes to explore the potential for the use of Polarimetric Radar techniques in order to enable the exploitation of nonlinear phenomenology for the detection and identification of PTE. The paradigm shift will also spur other areas of development, such as detecting a weapon cache concealed within hidden chambers that would be impractical without the new developments.
