Description
The modernization of the US Army’s fleet of combat vehicles with the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) program provides a unique opportunity to add new mission capabilities by exploiting upgraded hardware. Areté proposes a four-stage approach, based on previously developed algorithms and techniques, which takes advantage of onboard sensors, databases, and processors to provide a robust estimate of global position without requiring GPS data. The concept is dubbed ASPECT: Assert Position in Environment with Celestial and Terrain Data.
