Description
The current Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) software is very powerful and essential to mission planning efforts in the field; however, a large part of the codebase is outdated legacy software which doesnt take full advantage of the hardware its running on. In order to use the JMPS software to its full potential, the Navy would benefit from a tool that could refactor low-level code and restructure the architecture of the JMPS system to better meet the requirements of modern computers and tablets. ATC-NY will develop Automated Code and Architecture Refactoring Software, ACARIS, to analyze the source code of an application, identify inefficient or poorly written code structures, and automatically refactors and/or multithreads these structures. ACARIS also analyzes the architecture of the application and identifies opportunities for refactoring the code to improve the architecture and transition to a more open, service-oriented architecture.
