Description
Future, large footprint weapon systems can benefit from a multi-frequency telemetry system that provides support for multiple bands and various Advanced Range Telemetry (ARTM) waveforms. The overarching objective of the proposed research is to develop a low power, miniaturized, multi-frequency transmitter for intelligent missile flight test applications. The system will remotely relay telemetry data on a programmable channel from test vehicles during their flight over ground stations. Atmospheric & Space Technology Research Associates proposes to investigate a Software Defined Radio (SDR)-based multi-frequency telemetry radio to relay sensor data on any frequency band within the Upper-L to Lower-S, as requested by the customer, while providing support for various ARTM waveforms and state of the art encoding schemes. Integration of an open source SDR, affordable commercial-off-the-shelf hardware, and a highly integrated waveform generator into our proposed design concept will provide a low power, miniaturized, multi-frequency transmitter solution for intelligent missile flight test transmitting system applications. A successful execution of the proposed program will contribute to lower costs while enhancing range instrumentation performance. Approved for Public Release | 17-MDA-9219 (31 May 17)
