Description

AVID will perform conceptual design of a cluster of micro-air-vehicles (MAVs) that can be carried by a ground launched missile to the target site. A concept of operations will be developed to frame the requirements in each phase of the concept. Trade studies will be conducted using validated multidisciplinary MAV design tools with the objective of finding a design that maximizes the effectiveness of the cluster of MAVs at the minimum cost. Through analysis of rotor size, mission range, endurance and speed, fold configuration and motor sizing, an optimized aircraft will be chosen. Design of the carriage, separation and deployment will result in a full conceptual design. The conceptual design will be refined into a more complete model with design and off-design analysis. The final design will be the basis for a long range swarm that is capable of delivering multiple explosively formed projectiles to multiple targets.
