Description
Current measures of cloud ice water content - critical for understanding the impact of clouds on earth system dynamics - routinely disagree by 50% even under ideal conditions. An instrument using Raman scattering to measure water vapor, liquid, and ice in the atmosphere, which will avoid many limitations of current measurement approaches for airborne in situ use on manned aircraft will be developed.
