Description

Recent advances in technology and global markets have driven down the cost and increased the availability unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Due to these changes in market conditions what was once the domain of only serious and experienced hobbyist has become a commodity item for casual consumers. With this sudden proliferation of highly capable airborne platforms new threats have arisen for both civilian and military facilities. These platforms have become an asymmetric threat being used for intelligence gathering; payload delivery; and other criminal and military purposes. Todays warfighters are in need of cost-effective, tactical, innovative systems to counter the small UAV threat. To address this Black River Systems proposes to design and prototype a tactical, tri-pod mounted counter small UAS system by leveraging our current experience in the C-sUAS space. We are currently working with both the Air Force and the Department of Homeland Security developing, testing and deploying open architecture government owned C-uUAS systems. We propose to focus on decreasing SWaP requirements for an integrated tactical UAS detection system and to add an Intent Algorithm Engine to infer a detected threats intent.
