Description

Cellphire offers to meet the goal of this SBIR development of a Lyophilized Canine Plasma. During Phase I we will stabilize and pathogen-reduce canine plasma before lyophilization to a stable cake. After reconstitution, the efficacy and safety of Lyophilized Canine Plasma (StablePlas) will be evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. Cellphire expects that the Phase I data will support broader evaluation of this dried biologic in Phase 2. Cellphire already plans to commercialize lyophilized canine platelets (StablePlate). The overlaps in expertise and experience in the manufacture of both autologous or pooled dried canine platelets and units of dried canine plasma suggests we should be uniquely able to provide both products for Military Working Dogs. The commercial benefit of both StablePlate and StablePlas is obvious, since these products can be stored for years, transported with minimal logistical constraints, reconstituted, and administered in any situation. Moreover, Cellphire recognizes the dire need for lyophilized biologicals for treatment of animals ranging from household pets to endangered species. Our proven ability to successfully lyophilize living cells from both humans and dogs can be extended to supply dried blood products for treatment and resuscitation of animals around the world.
