Description

Informatics-based material development is becoming increasingly important as the physics-based multi-scale methods are not sufficiently matured to correlate complex structure-property-processing relationships for materials with 12-15 components. However, informatics-based methods require large quantity of good quality material data that are typically downloaded manually from the material databases. The proposed work in Phase I will initiate development of a software tool-kit that will capture, manage and analyze material property data from material databases. In Phase I, CFDRC will evaluate the capabilities of existing data scraping software to handle material data and their ability to be integrated with external analysis tools. We will also develop and verify a code for determining data quality of captured property data from material databases. The technique will be applied to analyze materials and property data relevant to a specific part of a typical marine gas turbine engine. In Phase II an API based customizable software tool-kit will be developed that the Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) community can use to aid material development.
