Description
The Army Operating Concept (AOC), published in 2014, describes the challenges faced by the Army when attempting to achieve victory in a complex world. In light of the concepts formalized in the AOC, it is clear that expeditionary Army operations are increasingly vital to maintain stability and security in a wide variety of complex, multi-faceted scenarios. Megacities, with populations over 10 million citizens, provide a unique challenge to expeditionary operations as they are deeply interconnected systems. As likely sources of future conflict, megacities are important in maintaining global stability and security. If the Army is to deploy expeditionary forces into megacity situations, it must be able to train its Soldiers to operate within them. Charles River Analytics, Inc. proposes to design and prototype a Multi-resolution Modeling and Simulation Toolkit (MultiMAST). MultiMAST will consist of a suite of component models for simulating megacity operations at both high and low resolutions, including a high-level model that integrates all component models and dynamically determines what resolution each section of the megacity will be modeled at, an interface that enables integration with other models such as OneSAF, and a trainer tool that allows intuitive authoring of training scenarios.
