Description
Excessive alcohol ethanol drinking is responsible for nearly deaths per year in the U S and for the development of alcohol use disorders including alcoholism which affects million Americans However there are not many solutions for the treatment Recently our research work identified PDE as a promising target for the treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder Selective PDE inhibitors could become a novel class of drugs for treatment of alcoholism given that PDE B inhibitors may decrease ethanol intake and preference without causing emetic responses the major side effects of pan PDE inhibitors In the last couple of years Codex has developed a novel PDE cell based assay With this assay we propose to conduct a high throughput screening to discover novel PDE selective inhibitors The potential candidates will be tested on the animal models
