Description
CEI will develop a Reduced Cost, Weight, Size and Power (CWSaP) Radar (RCR) sensor capable of acquisition and tracking of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), rockets, artillery, and mortars (RAM) at a max range of 5km or greater in clear air and DVEs. The proposed system will have a Field of View (FOV) and angular accuracy that would enable replacement of a passive wide-FOV MWIR sensor (>3 FOV; <300 urad accuracy). Because interferometers are preferred (to achieve the angular resolution needed), CEI will study a solution that employs interferometry. CEI recognizes reducing the system footprint is extremely important for man-portability, which will be implementable. Furthermore, the proposed sensor must be capable of integration with a mobile platform with other military capabilities such as a Stryker, and require minimal power that can be supplied through the vehicles on-board power system. CEI has implemented a dynamic High Pulse Repetition Frequency (HPRF), phased array, search/track, collision avoidance radar for Global Hawk. While this radar is relatively small and is effective tracking 0 dBsm targets beyond 10 nautical miles using a peak transmit power of 70 watts at C Band, it is too large to be considered man-portable, but is deployable on a mobile vehicle.
