Description
Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to provide the Navy with experimentally validated solutions for reducing noise and vibration transmitted through the helmet in the E-2D aircraft, ultimately relieving pilots of harmful vibration and noise. This will be achieved through the development of a finite element model of the HGU-68/P helmet with appropriate loading and boundary conditions to simulate its actual use in the aircraft, experimental modal and acoustic testing to validate the model, the development of helmet modifications for reducing noise and vibration, and experimental testing to validate the modifications effectiveness for helmet noise and vibration mitigation. CRGs demonstrated expertise in human factors engineering, finite element analysis, and acoustic and vibration testing presents the Navy with the opportunity to obtain reduced pilot fatigue and increased operational performance through the introduction of experimentally validated solutions for helmet vibration mitigation.
