Description
Corvid Technologies is pleased to offer this Phase I proposal in response to Army SBIR topic A17-010, “Ballistic Missile Defense Weather Management.” In the proposed effort, we will leverage Corvid’s established capabilities in computational aerodynamics and structural mechanics to develop a framework for assessing the influence of weather on Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) interceptor aerodynamics. These effects, which arise because of shock layer distortion due to hydrometeor impact, will be modeled using a mix of first-principles computational tools and engineering methods based on high-fidelity results. The end result of the proposed framework will be a tool for determining whether a BMD interceptor possesses sufficient control authority to engage a target successfully in either a given flight-test or operational-intercept weather environment.
