Abstract The overall goal of this project is to develop an optimized assay design and development process to permit the rapid implementation of sensitive bead based immuno PCR assays for the detection of the major bacterial and fungal toxins that are produced by common contaminants of medicinal cannabis The assay process will be developed and validated in Phase I focusing on one important small molecule mycotoxin paxilline Our phase II plans for this project will be to utilize the optimized assay format to develop and commercialize sensitive bead based iPCR assays to detect each of the major bacterial and fungal toxins that are produced by prevalent contaminants of medicinal cannabis This will address a critical unmet need in the rapidly expanding medicinal cannabis industry and will enhance MGCandapos s list of product offerings significantly Project Narrative The long term goal of the project is to develop and commercialize sensitive assays to detect each of the major bacterial and fungal toxins that are produced by significant contaminants of medicinal cannabis The availability of immuno PCR assays for toxin detection on medicinal cannabis would provide significant benefit to the public and convenience for testing laboratories since the assays provide exceptional sensitivities and can be run on the same low cost instruments used for MGCandapos s qPCR based microbial contamination assays This will address a critical unmet need in the rapidly expanding medicinal cannabis industry and will enhance MGCandapos s list of product offerings significantly
