Description
DZYNE Technologies proposes the research and development of EMPIRE, a capability that will provide Embedded Model Processing for In-Mission Reconnaissance Exploitation. Our objective is to deliver continuous 3D model generation of urban environments in an ultra-low SWaP form factor to help improve the Navys ability to model and understand urban environments through both direct manipulation of the models themselves and through correlated processing with other intelligence layers within a data fusion framework. Our capabilities for 3D modeling-based from aerial video processing will be advanced using recent developments in the field of computer vision and subsequently optimized and physically characterized within an embedded computing environment. We believe in the benefits of a phased approach for SWaP minimization. EMPIRE Phase I will pursue optimization, porting, and evaluation in a set of low-power COTS GPU embedded systems. Further work will see refinement of the 3D urban modeling pipeline, adding support for multiple sensors while further trimming / focusing computation.
