Description
EpiBone proposed to develop off-the-shelf injectable cell-based cartilage filler for treating cartilage defect such as cartilage tear caused by traumatic injury. The product is generated from allogenic adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells characterized for anti-immunogenic property and prepared into a pre-chondrogenic form. Previously, we have demonstrated that the the cells have tendency to undergo chondrogenesis and form cartilage tissue that integrate with adjacent cartilage and subchondral bone. These properties are key for healing cartilage defect and preventing post traumatic osteoarthritis. This proposal aim to develop product injectable form, optimize product contents, and test the feasibility of the product in an in vitro cartilage defect model. Successful outcome of this proposal will result in a functional product for pre-clinical testing which will be a pivotal step for investigational new drug submission for clinical studies.
