Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: N212-101

Description

The development of High Power Microwave (HPM) Directed Energy Weapons (DEW) has come a long way in recent years, however, to enable these systems to be more widely fielded and make a positive impact for the Warfighter, the Size Weight and Power (SWaP) and logistical burden must be reduced. Topic N212-101 seeks to develop a compact/lightweight low-cost broadband/wideband HPM source to support intermediate force capabilities, and long-range vehicle and/or vessel engine stopping applications. Multiple broadband and UltraWide Band (UWB) Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) system exists from Diehl, Applied Physical Electronics (APELC), X-space Tech, and Teledyne-E2V, however these system do not meet the SWaP goals of the program while achieving effects at the desired range [1]. To address the goals of N212-101 Integrated Solutions for Systems (IS4S) plans to team with Metamagnetics, Inc. (MTMGX) to develop a novel wideband HPM source for Vehicle and Vessel Stopping (VVS) applications.  For HPM VVS system to be adopted wide scale and used by the Warfighter, a new class of wideband sources must be developed. These systems must be developed in a manner that decreases size and weight, while increasing capability.
