Description

The Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) integrates sensors and weapon and a common mission command (MC) across a single, integrated fire control network. As one of its program pillars it intends to reduce the MC footprint and replace obsolete architecture. As an integral part of the IAMD architecture the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 - Intercept mission will provide a robust platoon-level protection capability against all projected rocket, artillery and mortar (RAM), cruise missile, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) threats, and subsequently is interested in expanding its complement of Multi-Mission Launcher (MML) interceptors, including, but not limited to, the AIM-9X, the AIM-120, the AI3 and the Miniature Hit-To-Kill (MHTK). This proposal addresses the potential problem of unique/stovepipe missile uplink/downlink (UL/DL) equipment, which from a size, weight and power (SWaP) perspective impacts the mobility and transportability of the MML. The opportunity is to leverage Innoflights expertise developing and fielding compact, rugged software defined radios to design a flexible multi-channel, multi-user radio supporting missile UL/DL implementations for multiple missiles. The target SWaP will match the IAMDs Small Footprint Radio (SFR) supporting the IFPC platoon network communications requirements.
