Description
All DoD branches benefit from interoperable, robust, and accurate targeting systems for forward observers and terminal attack controllers. These systems allow personnel to report relative distance in terms of three measures: observer current position (for example from reading a map or global navigation satellite systems, whose signal is subject to jamming), distance to target (by laser measurement, in general very reliable), and direction or angle towards the target—the most critical being azimuth, or rotation from north. A magnetic compass is not sufficiently accurate or reliable; better are sky compasses which leverage astronomic observables, with reliable and consistent use scenarios. Sky compasses can function day or night when a celestial object is detectable. Lynntech has assembled a team with exceptional insight for developing this desired upgrade, and we offer a particularly efficient route to a rigorously tested, reliable device. In addition we will develop custom algorithms, which help avoid IP and licensing issues. In Phase I we prove feasibility of our design by evaluating prototype components, and in Phase II we interface with stakeholders, build and test prototypes, and build an IP fence around our innovation.
