Description

To meet the Army need for a cost-effective method of compensating for the optical effects of new missile dome designs on imaging sensors, Luminit, LLC, proposes to develop a new Missile Imaging Corrector (MICOR). The MICOR will implement a unique kinoform corrector plate in front of the focal plane, enabling complete correction for dome distortion even on gimbaled systems. The MICOR will be fabricated separately for each wavelength range, and will be positioned between the imaging optics and the focal plane. During Phase I we will design the kinoform, perform necessary system trade-offs, and demonstrate the corrector plate improving the image through a sample dome. At the end of Phase I the MICOR will reach technology readiness level (TRL) 3-4. In Phase II we plan to develop the kinoform into a preproduction TRL 6 prototype, designed for a single missile-dome combination.
