Description
To meet the demands of the A17-027 SBIR solicitation, the MaXentric / UCSD / HRL team proposes the BEEMT (Back-off Efficiency Enhanced Transmitter), which uses high power and high frequency HRL 40 nm GaN technology for Army mm-wave handheld application. During Phase I work, the team will study most appropriate power amplifier configuration to achieve 10 GHz bandwidth, over 1 W output power, and over 5 Gbps data rate with high back-off efficiency and linearity. Besides the power amplifier design, baseband waveform generation, DC-to-mm-wave up-conversion, and wideband signal linearization scheme will be developed.
