Description

Nokomis will use its Hiawatha detection system to provide robust and ruggedized identification and tracking capability for water- and air-borne targets of interest. The Hiawatha System utilizes an ultra-sensitive RF sensor to detect, identify, and track electronic targets by monitoring and leveraging their RF emissions including non-intended RF emissions from so-called dark targets. Previous Nokomis work has demonstrated highly accurate detection, identification, and geo-location of electronic targets from vehicle and airborne platforms, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) at ranges up to 15 km by leveraging unintended RF emissions. Targets of interest to this application include small watercraft, Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV), and the proliferating variety of small form factor autonomous systems all which provide small boresight targets for detection. The proliferation of electronic systems onboard these types of targets, however, make them excellent candidates for detection through unintended RF emissions. Most automatically steered or autonomous targets utilize GPS information to navigate, and while not active RF emissions, the GPS connection and associated system electronics provide an electronic signature that Hiawatha can detect.
