Description
Anti-helicopter mines are of increasing concern for helicopter operations, particular for low-flying or landing helicopter at insertion or resupply points.In addition to anti-helicopter mines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) are also proliferating and a significant threat. Nokomis will leverage its expertise in detecting, identifying, locating, and disrupting electronic subsystems including triggering devices using radio frequency (RF) emissions which has resulted in a deep knowledge base to realize solutions to mitigating mines and IEDs through a feasibility study detailing solution requirements and Concepts of Operation (CONOPS). Nokomis has developed relevant systems to detect the unintended RF emissions of electronics components used as trigger devices, control subsystems, or system payloads, gaining a thorough understanding of the characteristics of these targets as well as the exploitable content of their emissions. The approach of detecting threats through electromagnetic emissions from the threat subsystems (particularly the trigger and control components) and using electromagnetic energy to disable the electronic components has been successful at IED and EO/IR sensor detection, which has been demonstrated at stand-off distances up to 15km or more and can counter a variety of threats and will be successfully leveraged to detect anti-helicopter mines.
